A DIFFERENT FACE OF THE CARIBBEAN
This voyage shows a Caribbean that goes beyond beaches and palm trees. You leave from Sainte-Anne in the south of Martinique, a French overseas department, and sail past Saint-Pierre at the foot of the Montagne Pelée volcano, whose eruption in 1902 destroyed the town.
Then comes Dominica, an independent nature island with rainforest, waterfalls and Kalinago communities; sperm whales live in the deep water off its coast. The Îles des Saintes, seven islets belonging to Guadeloupe and settled by Breton fishermen, round off the week.
THE ROUTE
Martinique and Saint-Pierre
Boarding in Sainte-Anne and north along the coast to Saint-Pierre, with an interesting volcanology museum.
Dominica
Rainforest, hot springs and waterfalls ashore; with luck sperm whales from the ship.
Îles des Saintes and back
Anchoring in the bay of Terre-de-Haut, one of the most beautiful in the Caribbean, and back to Martinique.
EXTRA INFORMATION
LIFE ON BOARD
The Chronos is a 54-metre Bermuda ketch with 1,000 m² of sail and reaches up to 15 knots: one of the fastest and most beautiful large sailing yachts. She was designed by Klaus Röder, built by the Ark Yacht yard in Bodrum and has sailed since 2013. A crew of ten takes care of sailing, galley and service. There are thirteen twin cabins for up to 26 guests, all with adjustable air conditioning and private bathroom: ten Deluxe cabins of 12 to 13 m² with separate beds or a double bed, two Long cabins of 11 m² with a double bed and a master cabin of 14 m². The large deck has plenty of seating and dining areas; below deck there is a saloon and a bar. The pace is relaxed: sailing by day from bay to bay or island to island, with time to swim from the ship, go ashore and enjoy the deck. You are always welcome to help with the sails, but you do not have to. The route is indicative and depends on wind and weather.
