BAREFOOT ACROSS THE OCEAN
Sailors call the east-to-west trade-wind route the "barefoot route": warm wind astern, bare feet on deck and days of nothing but blue. From Cape Verde the Chronos crosses to the Caribbean in just over two weeks.
You can help set and trim the sails, stand watch and take the helm yourself, but everything is optional. With thirteen spacious cabins with private bathroom and a crew of ten, this is the most comfortable way to cross the ocean once.
THE ROUTE
Departure from Mindelo
Boarding in the harbour of Mindelo on São Vicente and departure westwards.
Two weeks of ocean
With the northeast trade wind across the Atlantic: watches, starry skies, flying fish and perhaps whales.
Martinique
Arrival in Sainte-Anne in the south of Martinique, just in time for a Caribbean winter.
EXTRA INFORMATION
LIFE ON BOARD
The Chronos is a 54-metre Bermuda ketch with 1,000 m² of sail and reaches up to 15 knots: one of the fastest and most beautiful large sailing yachts. She was designed by Klaus Röder, built by the Ark Yacht yard in Bodrum and has sailed since 2013. A crew of ten takes care of sailing, galley and service. There are thirteen twin cabins for up to 26 guests, all with adjustable air conditioning and private bathroom: ten Deluxe cabins of 12 to 13 m² with separate beds or a double bed, two Long cabins of 11 m² with a double bed and a master cabin of 14 m². The large deck has plenty of seating and dining areas; below deck there is a saloon and a bar. On this passage sailing comes first. The ship also sails at night and no landings or swimming stops are planned. You can help set and trim the sails and join a watch, but nothing is compulsory: if you would rather read or watch the sea, you are just as welcome.
WHO IS THIS VOYAGE FOR
