ENJOYING THE ATLANTIC COAST

Unlike the ocean passages, this voyage is all about the journey itself. From the historic Galician port of A Coruña the Morgenster sails along the Atlantic coast to Brittany, calling at a few lovely harbours on the way.

Wind, weather and the day's progress decide which places you visit. Sailing days alternate with quiet anchorages, welcoming fishing villages and time to sample the food and culture ashore.

THE ROUTE

A Coruña

You board in A Coruña, the city of the Roman lighthouse Tower of Hercules.

Along the Spanish coast

The ship first follows the green north coast of Spain, with deep bays and small harbours.

The Bay of Biscay

Then the Morgenster crosses the Bay of Biscay towards France. You help with the sails, take the helm or simply enjoy the sunset on deck.

Brittany and Port Blanc

The voyage ends in Port Blanc in the Golfe du Morbihan, just before the great maritime festival Semaine du Golfe. You disembark after breakfast.

EXTRA INFORMATION

LIFE ON BOARD

The Morgenster is a brig: a two-master with square sails, like the classic sailing ships of old. You are not a passenger but part of the crew: you hoist sails, take the helm and stand watch alongside the permanent crew. You sleep in cabins for four or for two people, and meals are provided on board. The pace is relaxed, with a good balance between sailing and time ashore.

WHO IS THIS VOYAGE FOR
