THE BIG CROSSING BACK TO EUROPE

Crossing west to east is more demanding than the trade-wind route: the ship seeks the westerlies at higher latitudes. For more than three weeks you are far from phone signal and bustle, with only the ocean, the stars and the ship.

On the Chronos, which slices through the waves at up to 12 knots with her 54 metres, you make this dream voyage safely and comfortably. You can set sails, stand watch and steer, but everything is optional.

THE ROUTE

Departure from Antigua

Boarding in Falmouth Harbour and northeast onto the ocean.

Three weeks of ocean

Day and night under sail, with watches, navigation and endless horizons.

Portimão

Arrival in Portimão on the Algarve coast.

EXTRA INFORMATION

LIFE ON BOARD

The Chronos is a 54-metre Bermuda ketch with 1,000 m² of sail and reaches up to 15 knots: one of the fastest and most beautiful large sailing yachts. She was designed by Klaus Röder, built by the Ark Yacht yard in Bodrum and has sailed since 2013. A crew of ten takes care of sailing, galley and service. There are thirteen twin cabins for up to 26 guests, all with adjustable air conditioning and private bathroom: ten Deluxe cabins of 12 to 13 m² with separate beds or a double bed, two Long cabins of 11 m² with a double bed and a master cabin of 14 m². The large deck has plenty of seating and dining areas; below deck there is a saloon and a bar. On this passage sailing comes first. The ship also sails at night and no landings or swimming stops are planned. You can help set and trim the sails and join a watch, but nothing is compulsory: if you would rather read or watch the sea, you are just as welcome.

WHO IS THIS VOYAGE FOR

For those who want to log real sea miles on a large and safe yacht, with a professional crew and the comfort of a private cabin with bathroom. No sailing experience is needed, though sea legs help.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are there stops on the way?

No landings are planned on a passage; the aim is to move the ship to another cruising area.
