FOUR ISLANDS IN ONE VOYAGE

The last Azores voyage of the season shows the great variety of the archipelago: quiet, white Graciosa, the sailors' island of Faial and green São Miguel.

Between Horta and São Miguel comes a longer leg on open water, with a chance of dolphins and sperm whales.

THE ROUTE

Terceira

Arrive a little early to explore Angra do Heroísmo, then board.

Graciosa

The "white island", with gentle hills and white villages. Visit the caldeira and Furna do Enxofre, a volcanic cave with an underground lake, or swim in the natural pools.

Horta

On Faial: walk along the marina with the murals of ocean sailors and have a drink at Peter Café Sport.

São Miguel

The long leg to the largest island. Stay after the voyage for Sete Cidades, the hot springs of Furnas and the green interior.

EXTRA INFORMATION

LIFE ON BOARD

The Santa Maria Manuela is a 68-metre steel four-masted schooner, built in 1937 for the Portuguese cod fishery off Newfoundland and Greenland, the famous White Fleet. After a thorough restoration she has been sailing again since 2010, now with guests. Every cabin has its own bathroom with shower: shared cabins with bunks for four to six people (separate for men and women), cabins with a bunk bed or a double bed, and spacious master cabins for two to four people. A permanent crew sails the ship; you are always welcome to help, but you do not have to. You can help hoist and trim the sails, take the helm, learn knots or climb the mast under supervision. If you prefer to rest, find a spot on deck or in the bowsprit net. Meals are provided on board and eaten together.

WHO IS THIS VOYAGE FOR

For those who want to experience the variety of the Azores, with both island visits and real sea days.
