A lonely tropical island in the Atlantic Ocean, a thousand kilometers from the mainland. The street scene is dominated by pastel colored houses, businessmen in ties and bright shorts and British influences such as cricket and afternoon tea.

Bermuda has many beaches, with their typical pink sand, and there is a lot of coral around the island. There are also caves, the Crystal Cave is 500 meters deep.

After a few days we choose the open water again and set course for the Azores. It is wonderful sailing on the ocean. The wind comes from behind and long waves roll lazily under the ship. You have to navigate and steer along the way. Because the wind usually blows from the same direction, there is little need to adjust the sails. The temperature is pleasant and there is enough time for a good conversation, a book or a bit of lazing. The watches give structure to your day.

If the wind drops for a while, you can swim. Swimming with five kilometers of water below you and no land in sight is an experience you will never forget. Chased by a tuna, a school of flying fish occasionally shoots out of a wave. Sometimes one falls on the deck and the fresh fish is literally there for the taking.

And then suddenly land comes into view! After being at sea for a long time this is a very special experience. At such a moment you can also imagine how special this must have been for seafarers who crossed the ocean without good charts or navigation equipment.

We have arrived in the Azores. This archipelago is known for its nature and the many whales you see here. Tradition dictates that we stop here at Café Peter Sport to drink a gin tonic and paint a stone on the harbor wall as a reminder that we were here with the Morgenster.

On to Europe, we still have a nice piece of sailing ahead of us. Morgenster smells her home port in the distance and sails with lightning speed towards the Channel. When we reach the continental shelf, the wave action changes, and the temperature also shows that we are getting closer to home. At this point after a long time at sea, you can imagine how sailors must have felt in days gone by when they were almost home after a journey of sometimes more than a year. But we're not there yet. When we see land, we visit one of the Channel Islands. Here we make a short stopover to celebrate crossing the ocean, an achievement to be proud of! From here it is only a few days sailing to Rotterdam where we will embrace our friends and family again and tell tough sailor stories.
