With the Flying Dutchman we make a splendid music and whiskey trip through Scotland. This trip is a combination of sailing, making music and visiting famous whiskey distillery. 
The fun of playing and singing together and enjoying the beautiful Scotland is the focus. There is live music every day from our musicians who play and jam for heart-felt.
We can spend evenings in the pub or on the boat. If you like Scottish music and Irish folk, this is your chance! Anyone who likes folk music, whiskey and Scotland can join and go along.
This journey is different from others, because nothing has to be done or established from the start. We make music and sail to the next day’s destination.
We visit famous whiskey distillery and enjoy the delicious food and good drinks.

Our music and whiskey voyage takes you through the most beautiful part of Scotland. If there is still untouched, wild nature in Europe, we will find you on the islands on the Scottish west coast: the inner and outer Hebrides. The rugged beauty of the mountains, the silence of the mountains, the indescribable views, the rugged coastline with its surprising bays and quiet fishing villages, the fascinating sight of the islands in the distance. You must have seen that at least once in your life.

Prices :

We have divided the prices into two categories, because our double cabins are of different sizes. All prices are per person for accommodation in:

We travel with an international travel company. Our guests come from the Netherlands, Switzerland, England, Germany and Scotland. The crew of the Flying Dutchman comes from the Netherlands.

The specified program is a guide. Changes due to the effects of weather, current and wind are possible. Flexibility is required for this trip.

Day 1: Arrival to Oban

You arrive in Oban, a cozy fishing village with a wonderful location in a beautiful bay. If you arrive early, you can leave your luggage with us and then take a tour of the city and drink a glass of water (whiskey) in one of the cozy pubs. In the evening you will be welcomed on board. They get to know the crew and the other passengers. Afterwards, there is an ample dinner and we raise the glass for a nice music and whiskey trip.

The instruments are unpacked. We make a nice music evening and make music until the late evening hours.

Day 2: Isle of Mull, Tobermory

We sail to Tobermory on the island of Mull. On the way we sail very close to Duart Castle. This is an impressive sight. We enjoy the untouched, wild nature of the Scottish west coast.

Tobermory is a picturesque, colorful fishing village with a famous whiskey brand. The lively port is the starting point for a small fishing boat fleet. Tobermory is the main town of Mull with a convivial center and lovely pubs and restaurants. One of the most sociable pubs in Scotland is here, the Mishnish. There we make music until the night.

Day 3: Staffa and Iona

The uninhabited Island of Staffa is famous for its hexagonal basal columns and the Fingals cave, an approximately 80m long cathedral in the Earth’s interior, exposed to the constant waves of the Atlantic. This place inspired Mendelssohn to the “Hebride Overture”. A visit to Staffa is not always possible due to the harsh conditions. But it is an unforgettable experience to approach this remote piece of rock with the zodiac.

Further south, before the southwest tip of Mull, lies the small island of Iona. For about 400 years it has been a center of the Irish monks and is known for its calmness and the beauty of nature. Iona is now a popular tourist destination and a place forprayer and reflection.

Day 4 & 5: Colonsay

Colonsay is an island of the Inner Hebrides. It is 13 km long, up to 4.8 km wide and 124 people are to live on it (according to the last census). The landscape is varied, with some beautiful sandy beaches. The highest elevation is Carnan Eoin, 143 meters above sea level. A variety of destroyed fortresses lie scattered across the island. We find a small bookstore specializing in books with a local focus. It is at the same time the home of the House of Lochar publishing house, which specializes in Scottish history. There is a hotel with a view of the harbor, a café, a bakery and a post office. And finally, the brewery Colonsay, which employs two people. Colonsay is the smallest island in the world with its own brewery.

Day 6: At sea back to Oban

How will be at sea and sail back to Oban on our music and whiskey trips. On the way we can enjoy the untouched, wild nature of the islands on the Scottish west coast. The rugged beauty of Mull, the silence on the water, the indescribable landscape, the rugged coastline with surprising bays and quiet fishing villages.

Day 7: Departure from Oban

Unfortunately everything has an end, also our music and whiskey trips. After an extensive breakfast, it is time to say goodbye.They have had a great, varied week, in which you have seen the charming Scotland in a unique way and made a lot of music.

Sailing vessel The Flying Dutchman

The Flying Dutchman is built in 1903. In 2004 Klaas bought this ship and reconstructed it in order to serve as a passengers’ ship that is able to sail the international waters. The ship has a worldwide license according to international safety rules and the ship has been outfitted with the latest navigation and communication systems.

The interior is warm and cosy. The mahogany wood adds to the maritime atmosphere. Refreshments can be found at the bar which is provided with a beer tab. Each cabin has its own bathroom with toilet and shower. Outside you will find plenty of spots to sit, relax and enjoy the passing scenery.
