SUMMER SAILS from COPENHAGEN to ROSTOCK
Do you need a varied week of sailing in different sailing areas?
Experience this trip aboard two-masted schooner 'Abel Tasman'.
The sailing trip that we are going to make this week is of course entirely dependent on the wind. We sail from the Danish capital KOPENHAGEN via Sweden, along the beautiful chalk cliffs of Møns Klint to the historic German Hanseatic city of Rostock. A sailing trip for nature lovers and adventurers!

Welcome aboard!
You will board the Abel Tasman in the Danish capital of Copenhagen on Sunday evening. The ship is almost at the door of Amalienborg, the residence of the royal Danish family and opposite the well-known opera house.
After you have brought your baggage into your cabin, you will get to know your travel companions and the nautical crew while enjoying a drink and some small snacks.
When everyone is on board, some 'game rules' that apply on board of our sailing ship are explained, the weather report and the trip discussed.
You become part of the Abel Tasman crew
On board you learn everything you need to know to sail with a traditional sailing ship.
In addition to hoisting and lowering the sails, there will be ample opportunity to stand behind the steering wheel or to write positions in the nautical chart.
The possibility exists that during this trip we will do some night sailing.
You will then be divided into a waiting system with the permanent crew.
Experience is unnecessary, more important is that you are excited to spend this adventurous week on the water!
If for whatever reason you can not participate in the nautical program, assistance in the galley is always welcome.
The planning
Before the sails are put on Monday morning, you go with the helmsman to the front deck for the sailing training, where everything will be explained clearly and practically. You will learn, among other things, the names of the sails and how they function.
You also practice some knots that you will use on the Abel Tasman this week.
And less fun, but very important: there is also talk about what to do in case of emergency.
When we finally leave Copenhagen behind (and the 'little mermaid', as old as our 'Abel Tasman'), you will see the impressive 16 km long Sont Bridge (including 4 km tunnel) in the distance. This bridge forms - alongside all ferries - the most important connection between Denmark and Sweden (Malmö).
Both the Danish island Sjælland and the west coast of southern Sweden are impressive to sail along. In the 'narrow' (4.5 km wide), but important strait the Øresund happens very much in terms of shipping traffic. This is one of the busiest shipping routes in the world.
If we descend south-direction Rostock, we will undoubtedly have our eyes on the island of Møn, especially known for its high and steep white chalk cliffs. It may be that we are looking for an anchorage here, passing by or calling one of the small ports.
We continue our course to the third largest Baltic harbor in Rostock. Via the mouth-water resort Warnemünde, we sail over the river Warnow to this beautiful old Hanseatic city where our sailing week comes to an end.

Tip

If you intend to take this trip with children, please contact us for advice and an appropriate family offer.
Everything described above is subject to change, because this trip is just like our other sailing trips- weather- and wind dependent.
