VOYAGE DESCRIPTION
Our most popular voyage is back! Set sail on a thrilling 8-day ocean crossing aboard the Santa Maria Manuela, covering 785 nautical miles from mainland Portugal to the Azores, one of the most stunning archipelagos in the world as voted by National Geographic Traveler.
Begin your adventure by sailing underneath Lisbon’s 25 de Abril bridge. As you pass Cascais and embrace life at sea, the crew invites you to join in on all aspects of sailing this historic 68m schooner. From hoisting the sails to taking the helm, there’s no better way to experience true tall ship sailing. With ideal wind conditions from the north, the ship moves effortlessly across the Atlantic, making for smooth, pleasant days on the water.
Onboard, you can take part in knot-tying lessons, climb the mast for panoramic views, or relax in the bowsprit netting. In the evenings, unwind with a sunset drink on deck, and enjoy the camaraderie of your shipmates as you share stories of the day.
Sunrise and sunsets are a sight to behold but as you near the Azores, keep an eye out for the magnificent marine life that frequents these waters. Whales, including sperm, blue, and fin, as well as playful dolphins, are often spotted in this region, making it an unforgettable end to your journey.
The voyage concludes in the beautiful city of Ponta Delgada, where you can explore the rich culture and history of this mid-Atlantic gem, extending your stay to visit the island’s natural wonders like Lagoa das Sete Cidades, a breathtaking crater lake that’s not to be missed.
