Gesproken talen aan boord: Dutch, English

Before you spend the first night in one of our comfortable cabins in the port of Ostend, you will meet the crew and other guests, enjoy a delicious dinner served in our longroom and the captain will inform you of the safety aspects and the safety of the area. route to be laid.

ON THE NORTH SEA TO DENMARK

The next morning everything is prepared for the departure to the Danish capital Copenhagen. While you enjoy everything around you in peace, the Clipper sails in the North Sea along the Belgian coast, the Dutch coast and the Wadden Islands. In the meantime, you may be hoisting the sails on deck or opting to be on the lookout. Or perhaps you climb in a mast towards the top. It is all possible on board with us.

After having passed the west coast of Denmark, the ship sails further on the part of the North Sea that is called the Skagerrak and then sails past the most northerly known Danish town of Skagen. It is a popular holiday destination because of the rugged landscape formed by heavy sandstorms in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

The tour continues and the Kattegat is crossed. The name of this strait refers to the narrow sea passage that is currently still some 60 kilometers wide at the very end. From the Kattegat the ship will then head for the next waterway that connects the North Sea with the Baltic Sea: De Sont (Danish: Øresund). This is a busy and important waterway that is only 4.5 kilometers wide on the narrowest part. The final destination Copenhagen is now gradually coming into view.

DURING THE TRIP

What could be better than being on the lookout with nothing but the sea around you. The waves, the occasional rough sea, perhaps other ships and dolphins that swim around the bow. You can also relax with a book on the deck or in the longroom. We have a well-stocked library on board.

Both breakfast, lunch and dinner together with the crew in the long room are used at times that are adjusted to the waiting system. Every evening the captain tells you about the dangerous route of the day, the route for the next day, the weather forecast and nice other noteworthy things.

SEA SAILING AND WATCHES

The crew on board works in a three-wait system. For example, you have the red watch (from 12 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 12 a.m. to 4 p.m.), the white watch (from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m.) and the blue watch (from 8 p.m. to midnight and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. 12.00).

If you are in the red watch, you can enjoy the serenity of the high seas and the endless starry sky at night. In the white watch you will be surprised by spectacular sunrises and if you have the blue watch you can enjoy a normal day and night rhythm.

If you like this, you can be assigned to one of those three waiting. This way you will experience what it is like to sail on a ship like the Clipper Stad Amsterdam. Setting sails, being at the helm, manning the lookout, setting the course or waiting on hold; you do it all.

COPENHAGEN

After about 6 days at sea we reach our final destination on Saturday June 6 in the late afternoon. The next morning this adventurous sailing vacation comes to an end and you will have a fantastic experience!

Once on board, the historic city with a modern look is waiting for you. See The Little Mermaid with your own eyes, visit Tivoli (one of the oldest amusement parks in the world) and the Christiansborg castle, enjoy beautiful palaces, museums & galleries and stroll through the old town and the pleasant shopping streets that this versatile city has. In addition, you can travel from Copenhagen to the Swedish city of Malmö in just 30 minutes via the Mount Bridge opened in 2000. This combined railway bridge and motorway bridge over the Sound is the longest in Europe and definitely worth a visit for architecture enthusiasts.

WELCOME ABOARD

The captain and his 30 crew members would like to welcome you

ON DECK

On the upper deck you can imagine yourself on a historic clipper from the nineteenth century. The beautiful bridge, the three enormous masts, the lines on deck, the beautifully maintained teak woodwork, the crew that lifts the sails the way it did in the nineteenth century: everything breathes the atmosphere of the rugged, nineteenth-century seafaring. At the same time, the passenger sailing ship Stad Amsterdam also has the luxury of the 21st century in store for you.

While the crew keeps the ship on course, our hospitality crew serves delicious drinks and snacks from the bar on deck, prepared by our chef in his galley.

THE LONGROOM

The longroom has a spacious bar and a small library. There is room for 55 people during a served lunch or dinner. The warm woodwork, the many copper and the round staircase with ornate bars are reminiscent of the look of the legendary Cutty Sark. Of course, all modern audio-visual means, for presentations and the like, are available.

THE CABINS

The 14 guest cabins are located on the inner deck and all have a porthole. Each cabin has a telephone (with satellite connection) and air conditioning. They are equipped as standard for two people, but can easily be adapted for a stay with three or four people.

All cabins are equipped with a private bathroom with sink, shower and toilet. The finish with lots of wood and copper work gives the cabins a classic look. All cabins are similar in layout and have an area of about 11 m².
