Guadeloupe has a rich culture of which the inhabitants are very proud. This destination is suitable for a lazy beach holiday, but also for an active holiday. The beautiful beaches are interspersed with impressive nature parks with beautiful hiking trails and a spectacular toboggan run. Guadeloupe is said to have the greatest biodiversity in the Caribbean.

The island has a still active volcano: La Soufrière, which can be recognized by its sulfur fumes. You can climb it on foot in a few hours.

In Point-a-Pitre, the island's largest city, you will find nice markets to browse and cozy restaurants.

We leave Guadeloupe behind us to have a nice sail again. On longer stretches we can also choose to sail through the night. The nights at sea are magical. When it gets dark we turn on the navigation lights so that other ships can see us well. Other ships are also illuminated with a sea of cheerful white, green and red lights that we navigate safely through as a result. A sunrise from a ship on the high seas is unsurpassed.

From here there are many beautiful islands to visit, Antigua and Barbuda, slightly chic islands with beautiful reefs and tropical fish. Saint Kitts and Nevis are still quite unspoilt and the railway line that used to transport sugar from the plantations can now be used to explore the island. Sint Eustatius or Statia as they call the island locally has a huge underwater nature reserve with pristine coral reefs and 18th century shipwrecks. It is teeming with seahorses, rays, sharks and sea turtles. The island is also on the migration route of humpback whales, so there is a good chance of encountering a few. You can learn more about (Dutch) colonial history in the various museums.

Sint Barthelemy is a jet set island, recognizable by the mega yachts that are anchored here. You can meet movie stars, supermodels and other celebrities on the beaches. The island is not so popular for nothing, it is beautiful and in addition to everything you can expect from a Caribbean island, it also has amenities such as exclusive restaurants and chic bars.

We end this trip where the Netherlands borders on France: Sint Maarten.
