Sailing from Portugal to Sardegna

Mediterranean Sea

Cascais > Olbia

We invite you to be part of the seafaring crew as a fellow sailor and to assist us with all the usual on-board work, e.g. taking over night watches with a member of the crew and vigorously hoisting the sails. We also sail through the night. Let yourself be intoxicated by a starry sky that no place on land can offer you and see with your own eyes constellations that you otherwise only know from the map.

Cascais is only a stone's throw away from the capital Lisbon. From Cais do Sodré station in Lisbon city centre, a train runs along many of the beach towns on the Tagus. Caiscais is the last stop on this route. So you can arrive quite relaxed. After the first evening in the lively harbour town of Cascais, we set off in the morning. And experience an exciting first day of sailing on the high seas. We sail along beautiful beaches, bays, and the beautiful backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea.

Fluorescent algae offer you art in the water, especially in the Strait of Gibraltar. If we are lucky and the dolphins accompany us at night, you can marvel at a natural spectacle with glittering dolphins. Let our professional crew spoil you with culinary delights in wind and weather, defying all odds in service. Experience sailing and pure nature together with us.

The route across the Mediterranean Sea takes us along the Balearic Islands and when we have time we anchor here in one of the beautiful bathing bays or visit one of the enchanting harbours. Between Corsica and Sardinia we sail through the Strait of Bonifacio to Olbia in Sardinia. If we make good progress and the wind is good, there will certainly be the opportunity for a swim stop in one of the fantastic bays. Perhaps a visit to Bonifacio is feasible or we will anchor near Sardinia in the fantastically beautiful area of "La Maddalena". The captain receives the current weather reports every day and will use them to plan a wonderful trip. We only know that our "Port of Arrival" will be Olibia.

Possible ports of arrival could be: Alicante, Soller, Mahon, Bonifacio.

Milestone cruises are all about sailing! We have a destination and we know when we want to reach it. Shore excursions and stopovers are therefore only planned if the weather gods are kind to us and it fits in terms of time. If the wind blows from the front, the engine is used.

We can't promise anything, except a really great time on board.

Atlantis

Year of Construction 1905

The barquentine Atlantis was built in 1905 in Hamburg as a lightship. She served as a floating beacon in the Elbe estuary, where building a lighthouse was not possible. After 70 years of service on the Outer-Elbe, she was converted to begin her second life as a sailing ship.

Above & below the waterline, the Atlantis' hull has been built with the characteristics of a classical sailing ship. A thorough restauration in 1984 saw her acquire a barquentine rig: the foremast is square-rigged, the main and the mizzen mast are gaff rigged with staysails.

Mediterranean atmosphere on deck

In 2005, the Atlantis got a new owner. Her interior was converted to the level of comfort and luxury, respecting her traditional atmosphere which makes her so desirable. The saloon is spacious and comfortable, a stylish bar and a well-equipped hotel kitchen make for complete comfort aboard. The Atlantis feels at home in the Mediterranean Sea: her large upper deck with bar offers a wonderful space to lounge and enjoy the warm southern European climate.

Generous space

The Atlantis has capacity for up to 140 guests on board for day-sailings and has berths for 36. Our guests can enjoy the excellent food and drink served by experienced and enthusiastic staff. Along with being on an authentic triple masted barque with an experienced deck crew and all the necessary modern navigational equipment ensure a safe trip, makes this a wonderful nautical experience!

Welcome to the rich history of traditional sailing, welcome to the Atlantis.
